A friend has asked me if it is possible to obtain version of BASIC which would run on an XP Home machine.

I recall the heady days of GWBasic and QBasic, but I'm not sure how, or if, they are still available or, indeed, if they could be induced to run in a DOS Window.

I have suggested the esoteric delights of Visual Basic in one of it's incarnations but he is not keen.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Are there any (preferably) free versions such as QB or whatever available to download?

Or, perhaps he is wishing for the impossible.

    TIA

    BASIC - help is appreciated!

Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Oh, and apologies for the 'basic 'heading, that was thoughtless.

I'll try harder next time. Basically, ( :) ), I was pre-occupied, never a good thing when trying to help someone!
