I have lots of duplicate (same size and date) dll files on my Hard Disk.
Is it safe to delete them . I need the space !

mmd--How did you determine this? Using a program like Easy Cleaner?

If yes, that might give you a little more confidence.
BUT,Conventional wisdom says to leave duplicate .dll files alone unless you really need the space. However, if the space used is really meaningful and if they are truly duplicate in version, date and size--not just in name--try putting some each day into another folder and see how the PC runs. (You can then restore if you need to. Just make a note in what folders they were in. After several weeks without problems, you then can delete.)
    Leave the ones in C:\, C:\Windows, C:\Windows\System and C:\Windows\Options\Cabs.
Having said that, there may be better ways to regain space.

Among other things, this reference provides names of some of the file types that really are unnecessary and it tells you to delete your Temp and Temporary Internet Files (cache).
