Is there any way to narrow the Netscape Bookmarks pull down menu? Mine has suddenly become large and covers half the screen. I use Netscape 7.01 browser and WIN98. I have searched HELP menus in vain. No luck.

    Thanks.

We must not be using the same setup that I have. All my bookmarks are in the PreferencesToolbar folder, and very narrow bands show up.
Of course, anything is going be as wide as the longest description of a bookmark. I rename all wordy bookmarks (right click|rename). That may be a cause of this widening.

    Hi Westside:

My very wide pull down menu problem cleared up when I RESTORED my registry.

But, I have forgotten and the Help does not explain how to place items on the Personal Toolbar located above the Window. I have Mail, Home, My Netscape,Search, and Bookmarks located there but nothing else. I used to have Yahoo, Google, etc. there, but they are gone. How do you put them back. They are present under Personal Tool Bar in the main body of Bookmarks, but no longer present on the toolbar above this page. What gives? How do you replace them. Not a big deal, just frustrating and curious.

NS 7.01 may have differences, but here are the instructions from NS 7.0:

    Personal Toolbar

The Personal Toolbar is completely customizable—you decide what you want to keep there. The Personal Toolbar comes with some buttons already enabled, including your My Netscape page, your home page, search, mail and Radio@Netscape.com.

Note: For help on Radio@Netscape.com, go to Radio@Netscape.com help at Netscape.

You can easily add, delete, and rearrange items in the Personal Toolbar.

    Turning Buttons On and Off

    1. Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
    2. Click Navigator.
    3. Under "Select the buttons you want to see in the toolbars," choose the buttons that you want on your toolbar.
    4. Click OK.

    Adding Personal Toolbar Bookmarks

You can add buttons for your favorite bookmarks, or folders containing groups of bookmarks. To create a new bookmark to add to the Personal Toolbar:

    1. Open a web page you want to bookmark.
    2. Drag the bookmark icon image of bookmark icon (located to the left of URL in the Location Bar) to a desired place on the Personal Toolbar. You can drag the icon directly to the Personal Toolbar, or to a folder on the Personal Toolbar. See Adding Personal Toolbar Bookmark Folders" for more information on adding bookmark marks folder to the Personal Toolbar.

Note: The bookmark icon image of bookmark icon may appear as another page-specific icon if you have checked Show Web Site Icons in preferences. See Appearance Preferences - Appearance for more information on changing this preferences.

Each item in the Personal Toolbar folder appears as a toolbar button. You may need to enlarge the browser window to see them all.

When you Bookmarks|Manage Bookmarks|View|Set as Personal Toolbar folder, if you already had items in the Personal Toolbar. If not, follow birdiebob instructions.

    Westside and BirdieBob:

Thanks for all the tips. My Netscape page is now restored and even the Personal Toolbar is OK. I read the Netscape instructions and applied them to a single site I wanted. That worked.

However, when I signed off and came back after several hours, my Personal Toolbar at the top of the screen had miraculously returned all the prior sites to normal. Don't ask how, it did.

    Case closed.
