I am using Outlook 2000 SP-3. I can recieve email no problem but I am not able to send anything. I did the Detect & Repair under the Help menu and that did not fix it. I called Roadrunner support and they only support Outlook Express and not Outlook because of contractual obligations with microsoft.

The servers and so on is set up correctly. I scanned for virus and adware. No virus but did have some adware which was removed.

    Any ideas?

Add/remove programs and repair MS Office might fix it.

Otherwise, what OS are you running?

One other question. Do you get an error message when you try to send?

I am using Win 2000 Pro, sorry I forgot to mention that.
Do I really have to remove Office to fix this?

The error message I get is:
The SMTP server responded with an error. Error #: 0x800ccc60

    THANKS

When you go to add/remove and click on MS Office, you get a repair option in addition to the remove option. I would try the repair first. Can't hurt and may well help.

With the additional information that you are getting SMTP 0x800ccc60 that may not fix it though. That code normally means a problem getting your message to the ISPs SMTP server. Any further parts to the error?

Here is the error that came up with my latest attempt. It seems to cycle through a few different error messages. I have seen this one a number of times.

A timeout occurred while communicating With the server. (Account: 'JohnnyB', SMTP Server: 'smtp-server.nyc.rr.com', Error Number: 0x800ccc19).

I will try the add/remove rebuild and let you know how it goes.
    THANKS!

I tried the add/remove Repair thing and it did not fix the problem. If I do the re-install option will I lose all my saved emails, addresses and so on?

I agree with Newt, it looks like the problem is communicating with your ISP's SMTP server. You may want to go to RoadRunners site and make sure they haven't changed the SMTP address or the port numbers used. Several ISP's are changing these settings to help fit spam.

I searched the RR site for the settings and found nothing about the port #.
I emailed their suport and they woudl not tell me anything since they do not support Outlook because microsoft is a pain in the ass.

This is what I did. I had 2 emails with multiple attachments in the outbox. I moved them into the drafts folder and sent a text only mail. It sent without a problem. I then send a test message with only 1 attachment and that sent also.

I dont understand why I can send the other emails with the multiple attachemtns. Makes no sense to me since I have done it in the past.

What are the files sizes of the attachments? Some ISP's don't allow you to send large messages.

one email was 7 attachments totalling 2.4 megs
and the other email was 14 attachments totalling 2.7 megs.
should not be a problem, roadrunner has like a 10 meg limit.
i have sent bigger files in the past.
    thanks!

Another thought, have you tried zipping the files before sending them. Maybe RoadRunner has something that scans the messages, and it causes problems some how.

I zipped them up and could not send.
i also tried sending the zip from outlook express and that timed out also.
i have emailed RR to ask what the send/recieve limits are for my account.

1000 is the amount of e-mail that can be sent in a 24 hour period. 5MB
is the size limit of each e-mail.
