I just upgraded my free AVG7. There is a box that will not go away; the AVG E-mail scanner that sits on my desktop whereever I put it but all it does is tell me I am connected.

Would be no problem but it usually in the way of something else.

Not aware of that problem with the installs of AVG 7 I've done. Simple solution may be to uninstall AVG 7. Delete the offending desktop icon/box if it doesn't go with the uninstall. If it still doesn't delete then boot into safe mode and delete it. I would also manually delete the grisoft folder in program files after the uninstall, if it's still there.

That little box normally appears when downloading email. On mine, it stays on until all messages have been downloaded. I discovered by accident that if I shut down the email software before it's through downloading mail, that little box persists until I re-open the email software and let it finish whatever it was doing.

Try turning off the email scanning portion of AVG and see if it goes away. If it does, turn the email scan back on and see what happens. It may have been a one-time glitch.

You can disable the notification if you want. Open the Control Center and double click the E-mail Scanner icon. Then click the Properties button. Untag the "Show Notification" box.

    avg on desktop

I have different but related problems, including access to the avg forum. I have tried numerous times to log in, but all have been thwarted. The error message sez " "Invalid user name/password" (which its not)> I've been reassigned new passwords (via annoying remote automatic answer) but none works. I can't find a live Grisoft email to ask for help. Anyone have any suggests? Also, is the unionstall/reinstall process complicated or risky?

    thanks

    chuck
