 After Sybot is through scanning, and I check to fix all selected problems - the screen pops up that says it's preparing a Recovery Points (or whatever) backup -- but mine seems to take FOREVER. Sometimes 5-10 full minutes go by without it being complete.. it's almost like the comp freezes.. is this normal?

i have all my antivius updates, scan with adaware/spybot/norton weekly... running XP

    thanks!

It's actually creating a system restore point, and yes, it can take a while to do that. To disable, click mode on the toolbar and select advanced. In the left pane click settings tab, then settings icon. You will see 2 options for restore points under the main settings category. Uncheck and close.

Is that safe? Should I keep it?

In My Opinion, yes it's safe. XP should be creating regular restore points anyway, and Spybot makes backups of whatever is removed too. If a problem is created in removing something, you could either reapply the backups or roll back on one of XP's restore points. I disabled those features before first use (but I don't rely on SR either. Manual backups are your best bet. ;) ).
