I've recently installed Firefox and T-Bird on two different computers, and they're both working just fine. However, on one of them, when I get a link sent to me in email I can click on it and it will open in a new tab in Firefox. On the other, I have to copy the link location, then paste it into the location bar.

I installed both Firefox and T-bird on on the first computer, then a week or so later I installed it on the other. The links work fine on the first, but not the second. Obviously I was smarter before, but what did I forget or how did I customize it to make that happen??

See what are the settings for the one which works at Tools|Options|Advanced|Tabbed settings, and then compare with the other.

Since the two machines are in completely different locations, it took a couple of days to verify it, but after checking in Options/Advanced/Tabbed, the settings are both exactly the same.

Can anybody suggest any other places to investigate? I thought it would be something in the Thunderbird settings, but I don't spot anything that seems to relate.

Are all the General settings of TB the same?
Anyway, I made Firefox1.0 my default browser, and, a link from TB opens in a new Tab, as selected from the preferences.

They appear to be exactly the same, but it works in one and not the other. I mentioned this problem to another friend who has been using both Firefox and T-bird for a few weeks, and he says he had no idea that the links in emails could open automatically!

This link may be the answer.

Sometimes you have to uncheck someting (like the make firefox my default) and reopen and recheck the default box.

That did it. Check, uncheck, check again - works like a charm. Seems to me that's been the answer more than once! Thanks!!

That's what I said. Bmoore gave a more complete answer, but it is the same thing.
