Searched and checked but couldn't find anything about this.

When I save a message to the Drafts folder it disappears in a few days?

Not having a problem with any of the other folders including Templates.

I been using Netscape for years and have never seen this happen before?

    Thanks :)

    Hi arkie,

With Communicator closed, after backing up your Users folder....

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to your Users\Mail folder. Delete the Drafts.snm file. Only this file, NOT the Drafts file, with NO extension.

Restart Communicator and hopefully your problem will be solved. If not, post back.

    arkie,

What's up with you? Why is it these fixes don't work for you... I think you are jinxed! ;)

Did you try deleting the Drafts.snm file again, and it still doesn't work? If you did, and it didn't, then you can try rebuilding the entire Mail folder.

    Rebuilding the Mail Folder

FIRST: Back up/make a copy of your Users Folder!

    Close Communicator.
Go to your User directory. By default it is usually C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\ yourusername
Once there, rename the Mail folder to Oldmail
In the same folder: C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\ yourusername, create a new folder named Mail by selecting New, Folder, from the Windows Explorer File menu (or right clicking on the background and choosing New, Folder from the popup menu).
    Restart Communicator.
Check to make sure that this new folder is working. You can do this by sending yourself an email. Once you've determined that it's working, you should then shut down Netscape, go to the Oldmail folder, and copy any of the mail folders you wish to keep (ie. Inbox, Sent, Drafts) into your new mail folder. Make sure to copy only the Inbox, Sent, etc. files, and NOT the .snm files.

Let us know if it works.

    HI Ramona

Yes, I also think I'm jinxed when it comes to the dafts.
I have found that when I click on a draft it disappears. :D

I will try deleting the Drafts.snm file again.

Later if the doesn't work, I will rebuild the mail folder.

    Thanks again :)

    Are you having "DAFT" trouble?

    Hi arkie,

Just had to tease you a little :D Believe me I have "daft" trouble all the time ;)

Be sure to have Netscape closed when you do the editing, and to be safe, back up your Mail folder first.

A few days ago, exactly the same thing happened to me with a drafted letter. I saved it as a draft and when I went to open it, it vaporized into thin air. Not a trace anywhere. I will try your fix Ramona and see if it works.

I hope I am not jinxed.

    Ramona,
I have the e-mail Trash folder disappearing in Netscape 6.x.x sometimes after I Empty Trash.

Well, it re-appeared next time i start Netscape 6.x.x

    Do you have any ideas?

    Antony,

Samo, samo, for disappearing Trash! Delete your Trash.msf file and see if that fixes your problem. It should!

If this doesn't work, rebuild the Mail folder, or when all else fails... create a new Profile.

    Antony,

Have you tried creating a new Profile? Deleting the *.msf files, or a new Profile, are the only two fixes I've seen for corrupt Mail folders. To me, this is the major drawback of using Netscape 6 Mail, and that is the frequency of file corruption.

Perhaps Netscape 7 will have improved Mail and Newsgroup features.

    Ramona,
I will try to rebuild the trash.msf file.

Please note this problem does not occur all the time. Also the new profile may not be a good method to try, since I haven't got much e-mails for me to delete and play around.
