I have an MPEG file which I want to cut and split. Right now it plays fine in Media Player, though at a certain point the video skips, and it plays fine again after this point. This point is in the middle of a clip I want to seperate from the rest of the rest of the file.

I was using TMPGEnc to do this. However, no matter what I try it cannot process the file past this anomaly. If I de-multiplex it, the streams it outputs stop at this point. If I try to create my clip, it stops at this point and the sound also dies. If I try to make a clip of only video past the error, it outputs nothing.

Is there anything I can do with TMPGEnc to fix this anomaly? If not, is there another program (preferably freeware) that will remove the erroneous frames so that TMPGEnc can do its job?

    Thanks for any help everyone.

If you are using XP try Windows Movie Maker - Start > Programs > Accessories.

I've used it before, but the fact that it can only put out asf files (as far as I know) makes me hesitant. I'd far prefer something that puts out mpeg or avi.
