A friend had an old HP scanner that worked with XP SP1, and then she installed SP2. The scanner is no longer found after the upgrade. Has anyone else had this problem? Going to HP's website for this scanner does not reveal any problems, but then it is possible that most of the people with this scanner are still using WIN 98 or 95.

    Hello ackerberg,

Going to HP's website for this scanner does not reveal any problems

Does this mean no updated drivers?

Sounds like a driver problem to me. On the HP site if you haven't - look for driver updates for this scanner.

    Regards - Charles

    Scanner problems

The normal cure to this issue will be to uninstall your scanning software.
Then Uninstall the driver from device manager

Reboot your machine with the scanner unplugged
    Download the latest drivers

Plug your scanner back in to the P.C
This will pick up the driver with in windows which should now be seen in windows.

Go back to device manager and update the driver with the latest one you downloaded.

    Reinstall your scanning software.
