    Using Outlook 2000;

    My .pst file is approaching 2 Gb, so I archived older messages; archiving created the archive file but the overall size of the .pst file stayed the same. Anyone have an idea why the size did not change?

    Also, the .pst file seems to not change size after deleteing old/useless/s p a m messages. Ideas?

    Thanks!

    You need to compact your folders. I don't have Outlook so can't tell you exactly where it is but there's probably something in the menus somewhere. In Outlook Express you click file>folder>compact all folders. Have a look around and you'll probably find something similar. If you can't find how to do it post back and I'm sure somebody that uses Outlook can help. You might also search the help file for compact. There may be something in there that will tell you.

    Go to outlook today right click the header and go to properties >then advanced >compact and OK out of there.
