    Not seen this reported elsewhere...

I have about ten program folders on my desktop with the stuff I use regularly in a named folder. I like to have an icon for each, so it's easy to spot the one I want and click on it. (Done this since Win 3.1).

XP decides, apparently randomly, to change the display in these folders back to "Details" and to resize the folder boxes. It's rarely that they'll stay as icons for more than a day or so.

Never had this problem with any earlier versions of Windows. Anyone any idea what causes it / a cure for it?

These seems to be a problem with XP. My system behaves in the same fashion. Though I have set several shortcuts to Icon view after a while they revert back to Details view on thier own. It makes no difference that "Remember each folders view settings" is selected. Go figure. I posted a question concerning this problem a few months back but received no replys.

    Such is life.

Sometimes windows XP forgets it's folder view settings.

    Here is the solution.

    Backup these RegKeys.

    1:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU]

    2:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags]

After that you must delete them.

    Restart windows to take effect.

    Barbara-Ann,
Thank you... Your "fix" was the solution I was looking for...

Every so often a random folder on my system would take on the properties of "My Computer"
(Show in Groups - sorted by Type) Instead of my default (Details - by Name)

    Again, Thank You!!!
