CD-RW opens during startup

    All of a sudden my CD-RW opens and stays open during startup. It seems to work fine. I looked to update the driver but I couldn't find MSI CD-RW anywhere. Win 2K Pro

    The drivers are loaded by Windows - suggest you remove the drive in Device Manager and reboot to let Windows find it again.

    I did an uninstall, is that the same as remove? That seems to fix the problem. I was expecting the new hardware found dialog but windows found it.

    Yes!

    The New Hardware box generally doesn't pop up for 'standard' items like CD-ROM drives, DVD drives, etc as the necessary drivers are in Windows and are loaded automatically.
