    1.3ghz machine, windows XP 5.1 build 2600

Whenever I'd plug in and switch on a digital camera (in order to download images) it will blue screen saying something like "memory leak will begin in..(so many seconds)
I tried it with 2 completely different camera's. This only happens with camera's too, I can plug/unplug other USB devices without problems.

Obviously somethings corrupted but I have no idea where to begin looking or how I can fix it! Any help is appreciated!

You need to force it to leave the blue screen up until you reboot so you can copy all the information.

ok got it so heres the info ( I left out the standard blue screen jargon)

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Technical information:

    ***STOP 0X000000D1

    bpsubfit.sys- adress F89E75D2 base
    at F89E7000, Datestamp 3e1dff9a

    beggining dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disk: 0 (will begin counting up here till I reboot)

Thats it! If that makes sense to anyone then its a miracle! lol

    A couple of suggestions .....

Uninstall your camera software and drivers.

Check on the web for updates to this software/drivers.

    Reinstall camera software and drivers.

Do you get the same problem if you download via a card reader?

This driver is malfunctioning, and needs to be updated or removed. I didnt have any luck identifying it. it will be in your \windows\system32\drivers directory, you might rightclick->properties on it to identify what software package it is from.

Ok I found the file and temporarily moved it, then I plugged in the camera and it blue screened again, upon getting back to the desktop found my microsoft intellimouse was'nt working so thought its related to that? I updated the drivers and tried again, got the same blue screen crash on turning on the camera. It still names that file regardless of whether its there or not, very weird!

When I turn on the camera, I get a tray notification "Usb device found" then thats when it crashes. I tried the camera on several other desktops with no software installed and it always finds the device and will copy pics over so I know its working correctly.

Did you right click on bpsubfit.sys > Properties as Joe suggested?

oh thanks for reminding me, I just did and found the problem! It was referencing my microsolutions backpack cd-writer so I uninstalled it, and plugging the camera in no longer caused the crash...thanks VERY much for all the assistance!!!:)
