It was the XP service pack 1 you needed but XP SP2 should do nicely as well.

Try "Device Manager ", properties for the Universal Serial Bus Controller, Update Driver. The system should locate the USB2 driver and install it if it somehow didn't update with the SP.

If you still have trouble, you might be working with a USB port that doesn't have enough power for a USB2 camera. If you have two sets of USB ports (front & rear) try changing which set you are using. Some systems seem to deliver more power to front or rear.

thnx for ur help....i tried to update the driver from device manager.. but it is not able to search for the setup file automatically from the installation cd.
The second option i cant try cause i only have usb ports in the rear.
i jus cant understand why the message " setup requires atleast service pack1 on the target system to run" is coming up even when i've updated my windows with service pack 2.
how do we check whether sp1 or sp2 is installed or not on the system and if installed how can we check whether it's properly working..?

click Start, click Run, type winver, and then click OK. Look for the words Service Pack 2 at the end of the line that begins with Version 5.1.
