duplicate messages in OE6

    I use win98SE, IE6, OE6 and MSN Hotmail. I have it set up so that I can read messages in OE and/or Hotmail. I prefer OE, so I usually open that icon from desktop.
    My problem is that every new message in OE is duplicated. How can I eliminate duplicates?
    Also, when I open Hotmail in MSN Explorer, I see my in-box with a number of new messages. When I click on a message, it gets underelined (as a link, I guess) and then it is supposed to open. Insead, I am immediately thrown to my desktop, and no Hotmail window. So, I have to then open OE form desktop.
    Any suggestions?

    Why am I still getting duplicates of POP messages in my Inbox?

    If you chose to leave POP e-mail on the server when you set up your POP account, and you also chose to download all messages to Hotmail, all messages in your POP account are copied into your Hotmail account every time you check for POP e-mail. To stop seeing the same POP messages repeatedly, follow these steps:

    On the Options page, click POP Mail Retrieval Settings under Additional Options.
    Select the Download new messages only check box for each POP account you have, and then click OK.

    in my original post about dupes in OE, I forgot to mention that my OE is now web-based.
    I did what Arie suggested. Went to link, followed instructions re changing .dbx to .xxx (even tho I was warned about instability. We'll see what happens.
    In the meantime, I still can't read my Hotmail messages.
    Stilll need help.
