xp pro hangs on shut down. Even when I pull the plug, it restarts when plugged in again, and still hangs on shut down, and does not want to shut off.
    help ! Thank's.

    XP pro restart extremely slow

Any time I have to restart, or reboot, it runs very, very slow. It seems like it is bogged down. Is there a way to see what is happening durring this time ?
Is it low on system resources, memory, or something like that ? Where would I start to see what could be the cause ? Thank's

Doing it in Safe Mode too??

If not, selectively prune your start-up programs.

Have you tried to increase your virtual memory, to a custom setting. If you set it between 1000-3000 this should work and solve your shutdown problems.

Run Bootvis, it should halve the time for bootup, at least it did for me on my laptop. It will also show you why it is taking so long to boot.
You can get it from here:
    http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/12/2/12-2-1.shtml

When you run Bootvis, be patient, it takes a long time for it to optimize your startup. Go have lunch while it is optimizing.
