I have a windows XP Pro sp1 notebook on my network. When I try to ping the IP address I gave it, the ping times out as if the notebook is not there. BUT, the user can use the notebook on my network just fine.

When I have the user type ipconfig/all, it shows the ip that I gave.
The notebook has its own IP address, subnet mask, default gateway.
The firewall option on the notebook is turned off.

    Need help.
    Thanks.

Use the network for file sharing, for printer sharing?

    Wired or wireless network?

Any protocols other than TCP/IP running - IPX or NetBEUI or other?

If you have other NT systems (NT4/2K/XP/2K3) systems on the network and they are working properly then please do the following from the notebook and from one other system and paste the contents of the text files you will be creating to a reply here.

start => run, key in CMD, and OK then
    Code:
    ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig.txt
and please don't 'mask' any of the values with **** or similar. Need to see all the numbers.
