    Hi,
I have just built a system and am trying to fdisk the drive into two partitions.
The hard drive is 80gb but when am doing the partitioning the system is only reading it as 10gb.
Also am setting the primary drive to 12% and the extended drive to 88% but when fdisk is complete it reads, primary drive 85% and extended drive 15%.
Can any one tell me what is going on please.

    Neil,
what are You using to partition and format?

FDISK doesn't read sizes above 64 GB correctly. The readout of 80 GB would be 80-64=16 GB.

If the manufacturer said it is 80 GB, then the OS or FDISK will see it as 74.5 GB. Subtract 64 and there are Your 10 GB.

If You're installing XP, then create the system partition during installation and then the rest from within XP Disk Management.
