    The first entry says;
    HCF Modem -MDP 3880, PCI moden enumerator. Input/output range: DFF6-DFF7

    Second entry:
    MDP 3880-W Modem #2, Port Com 2
    Resources: input/output range: 02F8-02FF

    Is this something I need to fix?

    Thanks.

    Software modems use a PCI modem enumerator to conduct the operations that would normally be performed by a hardware modem. If you removed that, the modem wouldn't work! The other entry is the actual modem itself. You need both, so your fine.

    I have a BestData "Smart One" (model 56FW92-D) hardware-based v92|v44 modem (used for 56K dial-up), and in Device Manager under HFCmodem, it says "56FW92-D Enumerator." Two lines below, under Modem, it says "56FW92-D." Does the listing of the enumerator in Device Manager mean anything specific?

    Sorry to take so long. I'm still learning how to access my previous posts here. In a few years I'll get it!

    Anyway, that's just how software modems or partial software modems work The enumurator makes up for the missing hardware part. I think.

    I do know you need both entries for the thing to work.
