Can someone help , I'm trying Mozilla Firefox 1.0 working good but when I go to
iwon.com and to Prize Machine it won't let me download the prize machine so I can play here is the error message I get.

There was an error in downloading the iWon Prize Machine...
The download failed because you are not using Internet Explorer as your Web browser. Only IE is compatible with the iWon Prize Machine.

Click here to download a compatible version of Internet Explorer.

NOTE: If you have other questions about the Prize Machine, please check the Prize Machine Help Pages.

    thank you

    Hi Bob,

As you may know, some sites only work correctly with Internet Explorer. This is one of those sites. I tried accessing with my Netscape 7 and I got the same message that you did. When accessed with IE6, I had no problems. You will have to play the Prize Machine on IE. Sorry. :( It's not right, but some sites are just that way.

By the way, how do you like the Firefox browser? I have downloaded it, but not installed it yet.

    Mike

You can try the User Agent Switcher and see if you can fake them out. I don't like to get near that website, because, unless they changed their ways, the have Spyware.

I think Firefox 1.0 includes that by default. It was originally an extension, but all my extensions were disabled when I used Firefox 1.0 the first time, but the agent switcher was still there.

    Ramona,

You remember the commercial with Mikey? Well, that's not me. :D I like to wait awhile before trying new things. You know, let other people find the bugs first! But with your glowing recommendation, I will probably give it a try next week. Actually, from what I've read here, most do like it.

    Bob,

I've always used the Netscape browsers. I never really felt comfortable with IE with all it's security problems. After all these years, I know which sites I visit use IE only. It's getting better then it use to be. I keep IE handy for those sites.

What you do when Firefox blocks a download is click on the "Edit Options" tab on the far right and change your "Web Features setting" to Allow websites to install software. Then you will receive a window that says you shouldn't allow websites to install malicious software, the sky is falling, Armageddon doth approach! Is this what you are seeing? If so, it's O.K., as long as you are on a trusted website. If not, then don't allow the download. This is for your protection, and a good feature to have.

    Hi Mike,

Yeah, I know the drill, let Ramona try it, and her PC doesn't explode then I might try it too. LOL! :D

You know I wouldn't steer you wrong, and hey, I haven't used it very long either, so I'm still learning...

    It takes time.
As for the blocking, it is good for the clueless. And, most of them will allow the download anyway.
For people who know a bit more, it will make it pay attention at what is going on.
