    Hi everyone,

I have just put together a system myself and installed win2k Server on it.

I'm having alot of problems with it:

1- I've DL SP4 and installed it, but everytime it reboots after installation the system doesn't start windows and it reboots right after the windows Logo appears. I'm using it now without SP4.

2- Everytime i use the Net I get the blue screen of death, everytime there is a different error, some of them are:

    page_fault_in_nonpaged_are
    stop 0x0000000050

    driver_irql_not_less_or_equal
    stop 0.000000D1

    kmode_exception_not_handled win32k.sys

these are some of the errors I receive after logging in online and using the system for like 10-15 minutes.

All the parts are new except for the RAM, the shop owner gave it to me in a plastic bag ( i doubt it's brand new), could this be caused by the RAM stick?

Do I need to update the bios or any drivers, even thought the sys is brand new? (i've checked the M.B manufacturer's website and there are no updates: ECS PM800-M2). The M.B comes with the video, sound, Eithernet, Modem all in it and there are no PCI cards installed.

since my system is new I did not install any anti virus program yet. could this be the problem?

I've looked for these errors and i'm not sure really what's going on in my comp since each one is different from the other.

Can someone please give me any suggestions?

I have just finished a virus scan from a workstation on my network and everything was fine, there are on viruses in the comp, so it must be some hardware or software error.

right after finishing the scan again i received this error message:

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

    ntoskrnl.exe

I've seen Microsoft's page and read their comments regarding these codes, it could be anything though, they don't specify exactly and i just want to know if it's a sfotware or a hardware error.

I have installed XP on another partition and it seems to run alright, i did not get any errors .. does this mean that it's a Software error?

I chose 2000 server because i'm trying to learn and practice with it.

Sorry I missed the server part.

I had the same problem with 2000 Server SP4 and installed Server 2003 and all was well.

I want to get a grip on the 2000 and then upgrade to 2003.

I managed to fix the problem, it was the RAM, I borrowed a RAM stick from my brother and it worked perfect, so I took the one that I just bought back to the shop and they gave me a good, working one.

Even though youe help wasn't as good as I hoped, but I would like to thank you for taking the time and responding to this post.

    God Bless you all.

I wrote a reply and then the poster reported fixing the problem before i finished my reply, so i wiped it and leave this message in its place. Dont know how to delete a post, or if it is possible unless you are staff.
