Nortons is a program i install on all new PCs i build and on many others i deal with. From experience re-subscribing will enable you to downlaod via the web the latest version of the product and a serial number will be provided to you.

Sounds simple but i have noticed many clients having trouble with this method and many installtions fail when doing it this way, or have some kind of problem i have to be called in to fix.

My advice is to buy a retail copy from a store, as it will probably work better, and you will get a CD and manual for your product (which you dont if you re-subscribe) and it wont be much, if any more expensive to buy a new copy.

To re-subscribe to NIS, here in Australia, by the time you convert to $US costs around $80 (AUS) and to buy it new retail costs about $90 (AUS).

I also suggest buying Nortons Internet Security and not just the Antivirus. NIS includes antivirus and firewall and adware blocking. Most problems i have seen poeple have with this product are user errors or not understanding how to use it properly, the product itself is sound and as good as anything else on the market.

If you do buy NIS, remove any other firewall programs liek ZoneAlarm or you will have a war on your hands haha.

Fact is i get more problems from clients with ZoneAlarm than i do with NIS.

The Norton problems you read about are real enough but mostly XP. I happily used it from long ago and loved it until XP - I think Symantec hasn't done real well with the suite but earlier versions were all done with Peter Norton was involved I think and his stuff was always class.

pumpy1--Buy whatever (Norton AV, Norton Internet Security, Norton SystemWorks) is cheapest. Each Sunday, Office Max, Staples, Office Depot, etc. run specials. They all have AV and you can install just the AV if you want.
