    When I click on a web page to open or to download a file a blue screen suddenly appears.WINDOWS is written shaded in grey.Below that I get an error message which reads "A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0031AC7.The current application will be terminated ".By simply pressing the spacebar key this error is removed from the monitor.This error comes up at various times if I'm logged on for a few hours on the net.The problem is worse when I'm using Winmx.Whilst the program is busy downloading,this stupid error appears causing the downloading process to stop functioning.If I click on connect on Winmx the program can't open up as no internet signal seems to want to come through.I'm thus forced to reboot the machine & log on again to connect to Winmx but only for this sickening error to once again suddenly show up & stop Winmx from working normally.I have tried searching for this error code so as to know what it stands for but haven't been successful.I would really appreciate it if someone could please tell me what is causing this error to show up & how to stop it from appearing again.

    How is your security?
    Did you run full AV/spyware check?

    In addition and after you follow broni's good advice, open the Run Window and type msconfig and press enter. Click the Startup tab and untag any items that you can do without on every session. Your symptoms indicate that there is a turf war between the browser and some conflicting program. If in doubt, disable all of them for a test. If problem goes away, put 'em back one at a time.

    Using msconfig as a troubleshooting tool in this fashion will most likely get you there but since I like to see a variety of choices, often if one way doesn't work another will:

    Any details button on that error or further details about which application or driver is being cranky?

    While error is present can you bring up taskmanager (keyboard keys combo of cntrl\alt\del) and check to see if there is any "not responding" flags?

    I wonder if the faultlog would fill in the blanks on what has done what.........
    If you do not have it;
    Get Tweakui:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q190643/

    I don't know off the top of my head, which tab the checkbox is for enabling the faultlog.txt but it can't be hard to find.

    Next time an error appears, do a file find for the faultlog.txt, open it and see what ya' got.

    Dr Watson is worth a shot:
    Windows has a program called Dr Watson. This is a System Diagnostic tool used when you're getting a lot of system errors. It will diagnose problems, intercept errors from your software, and prescribe a course of action. To run Dr Watson, go to your Windows System folder and open "drwatson.exe" program.
    ---------------

    The point is.... knowing what element or component is involved will enable a specific fix.
