I use to be able to click on a link and IE would open to that link. That ability just went away and I can't find where to reselect that option.
I assume it's either in OE or IE but it's lost to me.
    Thanks in advance.

Let's re-register some dll's and see if it helps.

Quit all programs that are running.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll and then click OK.
When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat the process for each of the following files:

    Shdocvw.dll
    Msjava.dll
    Actxprxy.dll
    Oleaut32.dll
    Mshtml.dll
    Browseui.dll
    Shell32.dll

    Re-registering the .Dll's didn't help.

Then we need to round up the usual suspects. :)

If this is a recent ailment, try using System Restore to predate the problem.

If no joy there, run SFC /scannow from the Run window.

I have to attend to other matters for a while so I'll give you the next step, assuming you are still being troubled. Read this relevant link and try the offerings presented.

    Later.
