    Greetings!

I am in search of a photo editing program for Windows XP. I've tried a bunch so far (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, ACDSee & more), but none of them seem to fit the bill.

Ideally I would like something similar to GraphicConverter (a Macintosh application). The main attributes I'm in search of are a good browser to organize and preview folders with large numbers of jpegs, some basic editing functions (crop, trim, resize, colour balance, etc.) and (one of the things I like best about GraphicConverter) is batch processing.

Paint Shop Pro comes close, but it seems to have lots of bugs, the browser doesn't have a picture preview and you need to write a complicated script every time you want to apply a simple batch to a group of photos.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a program that would suit my needs?

    Thanks!

You didn't mention IrfinView so just in case you're not familiar with it, give it a shot. Free. It's more of a viewer than an editor but it does many editing functions though.

    Kazper,
I'm surprised you didn't find all your needs in Paint Shop Pro. Everything you mentioned is there.
I've been using PSP for a number of years and after having experienced many other Photo Editors find this one to be top notch.
How long have you used Paint Shop Pro??

PSP is good software but for me, it is normally overkill and I'm like surferdude2 - I like Irfanview.

It will do all the things Kazper mentioned in his wish list.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I really appreciate it.

In regards to PSP, like I said, it does have most of what I want, with the exception of a preview window in browse mode, and the scripting is just far too complex. I don't mind taking the time to learn a new scripting language, it just seems rather pointless to spend an hour writing a script when I could perform the same tasks manually in the same amount of time. It's not like I'm exiting 1000 photos at a time, but more like 50 or 100.

That's one of the things I really like about GraphicConverter. It doesn't have a scripting language built in, but rather an area where you can enter a number of standard commands to run in a batch.
