New computer with strange problem. I have an excellent internet connection 3.0MB speed or better. I had to computer connected before I purchased the new computer. Both of the old computers do not experience the problem that I am having with the new computer. That said, here is the problem:

For no apparent reason my internet browsers time out and will not connect to any site. I can get it working again by restarting the computer or just keep trying until it give ups and starts work again. Additionally, I can't hold a connection at all with LimeWire sharing software. I get a message that no internet connection is detected. As I said before I can hook the old computer up and have no problems whatsoever. I know it is something about the new computer. Something is blocking my throughput, but I can't figure it out. I have removed or turned off all my firewalls and virus programs. I have checked my internet TCP setting and they are the same as the older computers. Any thoughts out there about this problem or any other good site that could help me with this problem?

If the message you're getting refers to "limited or no connectivity," see this post in the Networking forum.

Miz, I did have the problem you pointed out with the new PC. I finally forced an IP address to get around it. I will check out your fixes later.

Now to my current problem. I use a wireless connection setup. I have to USB directional antennas attached to each computer. My old computers, which are XP-SP2 Home systems, work great. I am sitting here watching a download on LimeWire with a Turbo connection speed on the other computer. I can interact with the internet with no problem whatsoever. I can disconnect the new computer and connect my old computer and get the same results so I know it's not my connect method. I never had this problem until I hooked up the new computer. I have recovery the new computer several times thinking it was something I was doing, but I get the same results. For some reason the new computer stops seeing the connection. I am puzzled about it, but this machine came with XP-SP2 home, which I also have on my other computers. but I was have the problem Miz point out on my LAN network on the new computer, but I haven't seen this problem on my wireless connection or on the other computers.

Moved this to networking. Can't be sure it belongs here since you haven't mentioned much in the way of details about the system that is having problems but better here than 'general discussions'.

Just a follow-up. I now believe that I am getting interference that's causing my problem. I have unplugged all my 2.4Mhz products in the house, but that didn't help. The interference is apparently coming from outside my house. It could be a my access point source. I will change the channel and see if that helps. I will also have the 2.4Mhz products at the access point turned off and try that and see what happens. This problem just started so I am pretty sure that some type of interference is more than likely the problem. Need something to keep me busy.
