Hi Ramona, I been away a while. Old guys are like that.

Last Spring, After your help with making new folders to stow mail in, I developed the following as my system for saving e-mail since I am one of those guys who never throws anything away.

Off both the "inbox" and "sent" folders, I made a new folder for each month and simple used the date to name the folder.

To keep the months sorted in their correct order I use a format of "04-01-31" for January - "04-02-28" for Februrary, etc.

Using the last day of the month is not necessary but, it does keep me informed on the correct days for a given month and when moving the messages does assure me the days of the month correlate with the last days messages of that month.

After the end of the month passes, I make sure I sort by date and move that month's messages into the appropriate month and the corresponding folder of either 'Inbox" or 'Sent ".

    That's my system - Here's my problem.

When I "move" the current months "SENT" messages to the new folder each month, my name which is the "SENDER" shows up as the "RECIPIENT" in all the messages after the move is made.

Moving to the "Inbox" works fine and all is normal.

The "Sent" messages however are now hard to determine which is which because the only thing left to distinguish their differences is the messages "Subject" column or "Date" column.

Question:.. Is there anyway to keep this abnormality from occuring and keep the correct recipients name showing after the move.

And By The Way, it matters not were you copy or move, the results are the same.

I am currently using Netscape 7.02 with Windows 98 SE

However, I can also tell you that I have been using Netscape since about day one and as I recall this same thing has always occured even when I use to make folders and move the messages using a DOS program called QDos3 which was similiar to Windows Explorer.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ray,

Unfortunately, that is a bug in Netscape 7.02, and you would have to update your browser to correct this problem.

    Recommended Version of Netscape

Regarding an update to elimate this bug, Does Ramona have a recommended version of Netscape for somebody who is not too fond of change and doesn't like a lot of whistles and bells.

I once tried NS Version 7.2 and found it to be unstable, slow and cantankerous.

In otherwords, it was kind of like me. So, I went back to version 7.02

I have been using version 7.02 for a long long time or since it's arrival and have never had any problems and it always does everything I need or ask other then this bug relative to moving the e-mail.

Since I don't much like straying too far from my comfort zone, Which version of Netscape is closest to 7.02 which corrected this bug or what is your current best version for recommendation.

AND Would you have more then one version to recommend or suggest so I can consider the options.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ray,

Yup, I understand not adapting to change, and the comfort zone of the familiar. Old gals can be like that too! ;)

You want speed and cutting edge, then move to Firefox 1.0, and Thunderbird 0.9. They are both excellent applications, and moving to either is not any more difficult than moving from one version of Netscape to another.

I would also recommend Mozilla 1.7.3, which is the same as Netscape 7.2, only faster, and more stable, and a few more security fixes. Netscape 7.2 is Mozilla 1.7.3, as they use the same code base. The only difference being that AOL webmail is not accessible thru the Mail & Newsgroups component of Mozilla, and neither is AIM/NIM included. The appearance is exactly the same.

I'll be more than happy to help you thru a move, if you decide to update.

    Ramona
