Netscape 7.2 stopped working.

    I had to re-install Netscape 7.2 (previously installed over 7.1) after I was forced to run PC recovery (PC wouldn’t start). The recovery screen told me that it will leave my data files, but I will have to re-install all my programs.
    I ran install program for NS 7.2 a few times in many different ways with different options, but every time when I click on Navigator or Mail, the programs just ignore me.
    I am not getting splash screens, not even error messages.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the Forum, maxvaldman!

    Max,

    Uninstall Netscape 7.2 using Add/Remove. Then look in the GRE folder (if there is one) and also delete the 1.4f_2003062408 Folder, located here:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE\1.4f_2003062408

    If there is a 1.7.2_2004080415 Folder, delete it also. There shouldn't be, but to cover all bases...

    Next: Delete the Netscape Folder in Program Files, located here:
    C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape

    REBOOT YOUR PC

    Now reinstall Netscape 7.2, and see if you can access your Profile now. I am assuming that your Profile is in the default location, correct? See: Profiles Folder Location

    Post back with any further questions.

    Thank you very much, it worked. I didn't have 1.4f_2003062408 file, but I did have 1.7.2_2004080415, even after uninstall. As soon as I deleted the file and installed NS again, all my e-mail folders came back.

    :) TO: Ramona: I follow your steps described in the message below. My NS 7.2 is working now. I recommend others have the same problem follow your prescriptions. Thanks very much.
