I all, I hope some one can help me with this one.

When I first got this computer a year ago, I disabled Local area connection, because it always told me that a cable is unplugged.
In a way that was true, because I did not have DSL at that time. Now I finally getting DSL and I wanted to enable it again, but it gives me a yellow ! and tells me that I only have limited or no connectivity. I talked to my ISP and they told me that this is a bug in SP2 and there is a patch at MS to fix that. I was at MS and I could not find a patch nor did "windows updateâ€. Any Ideas?

Another thing I noticed when I open Control Panel is I have 2 icons for Network Connections. Does that have anything to do with this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Look in the Networking forum. The sticky post at the top of the list should provide the fix.

    Hi Miz
    Thanks for your reply.
I downloaded the patch, but it still shows the yellow !
Do I have to have a DSL line connected to make it be gone?
    Thanks

    limited or no internet connection

actually if it says "limited or no conection" that is telling you that the XP firewall from SP@ and the security cneter is enabled and working...we here at the ISP i work for see about 50% of the folks able to route with this and 50% that have problems and we refer to M$ for a solution...

    Update

After sending an E-mail to MS, I got the following answer:

    1. Click Start, click Run, type "ncpa.cpl" (without the quotation marks) and press Enter.

    2. Right-click the connection with an overlaid yellow symbol and click Properties.

    3. Click on the "General" tab, highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) ", and click Properties.

    4. Click on the "Alternative Configuration" tab, select the "User configured" radio box.

    5. Type 192.168.0.2 in the "IP Address" field.

    6. Type 255.255.255.0 in the "Subnet mask" field.

    7. Click OK twice.

After following the advice, every thing works just fine.
Just to let all you good people know and maybe some one else can use this info.
