I have win 98 SE and have Client For Microsoft Networks, The NIC adapter, and TCP/IP installed in the Networks properties in Control Panel. The tech at Roadrunner told me to disable DNS, leave the Gateway blank, and set the IP address to auto, and WINS be set by DHCP. I did this, but it will not access the internet. It was working fine before, but I installed some USB drivers for my cable modem and that is when it started. I removed the USB drivers with the removal tool they came with from Motorola, but I can't get it to connect. Can anyone help me?

Try this, go to a DOS prompt and type ipconfig /release_all

Reboot and try to connect to the Internet.

That idea could be a simple solution, but in Win98SE, I think you would rather do Start|Run|type winipcfg|OK. Then click Release All, followed by Renew All.
