My OS is Win98SE. I am in need of instructions on how to install a new video display adapter driver from a MS-DOS prompt. These are the manufacturer instructions:

Latitude XPiCD MMX A00 Neomagic Video Driver

This file contains a self-extracting diskette image of the Neomagic
Windows 95 video driver version 5.26 for the Latitude XPiCD MxxxST (MMX).

After downloading and extracting, to make the diskettes, place a formatted
diskette in drive A:, go to a DOS Prompt, change to the directory containing
the extracted files, and type in 'disk a:', then press ENTER.

I get as far as the last step. What command do you use within a DOS prompt to extract the contents from a temp folder to the floppy drive? Did as instructed and got nowhere. There is something missing in the instructions. Thanks for reading.

    Download the file xpcdx526.exe

Once downloaded Double click to extract

*Select the folder {name of choice) you want it extracted to

    It extracts disk.exe and a readme.txt file

Put a blank floppy inthe A: drive

Open a dosbox command window and type cd\ and hit enter to clear the c: prompt

Type in the fulll path to folder you previously extracted the xp* \disk.exe files to. Example: result would be c:\zips\ "name of choice "

    Type disk A:

This extracts and copies bunch of files to the floppy which appear to be your sought after video drivers as follows:
    A:\VPMDD32.DLL
    A:\VPMNEO.DRV
    A:\W95_INST.TXT
    A:\DDNEO32.DLL
    A:\LICENSE.TXT
    A:\NEOMAGIC.DLL
    A:\NM20XX.DRV
    A:\NM20XX.INF
    A:\NM20XX.VXD
    A:\VERSION.TXT
    A:\VPMDD16.DLL

*Note: The extraction seems to default to c:\windows\temp but as is my habit, I always delete/blank/backspace this out and type in my own choice. Experience has taught me that to leave it at this type of default option I may wind up with any number of loose files and/or folders that where extracted and in most cases find this a nightmare to wrangle together and put into a single folder. While this only involved two files, that is not always the case.

Worked like a charm. I knew the instructions were incomplete. Thanks again. We can now officially put this thread to bed.
