My OS is Win98SE using IE6.0. This problem is so bizarre it is difficult to explain. I have no problems whatsoever with Outlook Express except from one sender. An old army buddy of mine sends me emails that ALWAYS arrive blank. This started about a two week ago. Before that I had no problems receiving messages from him. This is what I receive. Through the center of his email are two horizontal lines. Just out of curiosity I clicked on one of the lines. Much to my surprise my C: drive folder opened. One time while displaying another blank message from him, my system froze. I had to press Ctrl/Alt/Delete to get out of it. He claims everyone of his contacts have experienced no such problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

jackpan--Ask him to send an exactly same test email to you and to others at the same time. Does the problem still occur with your email but not the others?
One reason I suggest this is because it is possible those earlier emails did not really come from him but were sent by a virus on his PC or even by a virus from a PC that has both his email address and yours in the address book. (I can provide more info on this problem if you need.)
The important issue is to determined whether the problem is at your end or at his.
And, just to safe, be sure to scan your PC with antivirus and spyware detectors such as

Sorry for the delay. My friend was on vacation. Had not heard from him. Problem was solved by accident! He switched to Plain Text Format instead of HTML Format and the problem was gone. I have never heard of this before. Thanks. This thread can now be closed.
