    Right click on any empty space of your desktop, click "Properties ", go "Settings" tab, and let me know what do you have displayed under:
    - Colors
    - Screen Area

    Hi. I guess you wondered how you would see the menu on right click if the screen was all fuzzy when you read the last reply above mine.

    Well do this instead

    When you start the PC, just after the POST you will see a line say Windows 98 is starting.... before it goes to the Windows 98 startup logo screen. At the moment you see that line, and before the logo screen, you need to hit the F8 key to get a boot options menu. If this sounds hard to time, start tapping F8 towards the end of the POST process, and you will catch it that way.

    It wont hurt to hit F8 early, but if you hit it way too soon, like as soon as you turn on the PC, you may get a keyboard error, like a "key stuck" error.

    Anyway F8 at the right time at the start of Windows booting will give you a boot menu. Start windows in Safe Mode . When boot completes in Safe Mode, you can change your display settings in control panel to a more appropriate resolution, or to how it was before the change that caused the error.

    Then restart your PC. It will be fine. It automatically starts in normal mode next time you reboot. To get Safe Mode you have to invoke the boot options menu each time.

    Hope this helps :)

    You need take a look at your settings in "device manager" and make sure the correct manufacturer specific video adapter and monitor are being used and either or both are not having a problem.
    ---edited due to dissatisfaction with a cut and paste---- :rolleyes:

    You can open Device Manager by double-clicking on the System icon in Control Panel, and choosing the Device Manager tab. It is also accessible by right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties, and selecting the Device Manager tab.

    You may have to refresh/update/reinstall the drivers for the adapter or reinstall/update the adapter to correctly reflect your specific kind/brand/board/chipset of adapter and drivers, depending on what you find in device manager.

    Do you know what your video graphics card adapter is or should be? Do you have updated drivers or software for it? These may either be on the win98 CD, your OEM CD, your harddrive, or if you have downloaded the latest drivers that work with your system (the latest may not be the greatest), they would be.. where ever you downloaded them to. :) For further help, I will be waiting for your answers.

    =========
    What was this game?

    Provided that the adapter drivers aren't corrupt you may be able to save yourself some trouble by rolling back the registry to a time that predates your current problem if it happened in less than five days or five (24 hr or more) dated shutdowns. Are you familiar with how scanreg saves backups and how to restore these? You can restart in dos mode and use the command line of scanreg /restore from the dialog box that pops up you can choose a dated backup that predates your current problem. You may lose registry info on anything you have installed after the date you choose (such as this game "name unknown ").You may have to reinstall this game and any software or update that you have done after the date chosen.

    If rolling back the registry did not help you can repeat the process and undo what you did by choosing either "today's or yesterday's" date.
