My computer crashed when I tried to reload Norton Ghost.I could not get it do anything except the blue screen of death.I used Killdisk to erase the hardrive. When I tried to reload Windows XP it said I had an IO Device Error.I resarted it and it loaded the OS.It worked good for 2 days then crashed again.I have 2 questions-What is an IO device Error?(searched Microsoft,no luck)Does anyone know of any problems with Norton system works 2003 and Roxio 6.
    Thank you

Generally an IO (Input Output) error means you have a hardware problem. IO devices run the range from hard drives to keyboards and include things like joysticks, USB drives, and mice.

Read any error messages very carefully and click if they offer more details. Sometimes it will point to the offending device. Also it's a good idea to disconnect all unneeded peripheral devices when install the system - printers, scanners, and cameras for instance.

As for problems with NSW, I hear of many and they don't seem to be easily fixable. I hear that their only safe product is the AV program but I don't have any of their stuff so can't give you first hand experience. As for Roxio, I hear of some problems but they are generally fixable with patches from their site so check that possibility. I use Roxio GoBack with good results although they have sold it out to Symantec now I think.

It did not give any details about what the specific problem was.I can belive it is the hardrive,it has been making a racket when the computer first starts for about 5 minutes(was hoping it was a fan)When I was trying to load Windows the hardrive light was barely flickering, real week light. When I finaly did get it to load it was 2 to three times brighter.I am just trying to make sure that is the problem.Guess I ought to get a new hardrive, one with a 3 three warentty instead of a year. Thanks
