Hi All, this gklayout fault is driving me up the wall like some more of you. Mozilla[latest] if fine most of the time and then the fault creeps up and re-booting sometimes helps but not always. I went to RUN and typed Mozilla and it opens ok on browser and email. Has this fault anything to do with Icons? or the hyperlink?
Is there a cure for this yet? [a definite one]
After downloading AVG anti virus free edition [latest] the email programme doesn't now download the mail like it used to and the get messages button doesn't seem to work, any ideas? Thanks 2cv.

    Welcome to the Forum, 2cvtools!

    2cvtools,

    Uninstall Netscape 7.2 usiing Add/Remove
    Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE
Delete the GRE folder for Netscape 7.2 (1.7.2_2004080415)
If you have only the one Netscape installation, and no Mozilla installation,
you can delete the whole mozilla.org folder in Common Files.

    Reinstall NS 7.2.

The gklayout.dll is a GRE file, so the error message suggests a
GRE corruption, which is why you should delete the GRE manually. The
installer should clean up orphaned GRE's from old installations,
for example NS7.1 or Mozilla, but, for some reason, on some systems, it
doesn't seem to work. Frequent uninstall/reinstalls can build up a lot of old GRE's.

I use AVG free antivirus, and have never had problems with Mail downloading. Are you running a second antivirus by chance?

I knocked myself out while trying to be some reference In your profile delete the xul.mfl file on the hard drive, with Mozilla closed. There was more, but I don't think that you need more than that, for now.

Ok, Ramona maybe 100% correct, but this is easy to do. It was an old fix.
And, I also have AVG free, and it has nothing to do with Mozilla mail scanning

Hi, Thank you both. I went to Ramona's website and read a few things and eventually decided to download xpcom???? and then mozilla went out of bounds and wouldn't work at all. My mistake!!!!!!! I removed Mozilla and reinstalled. I only use the web browser and the email, not any Netscape installs. AS soon as I tried to load Mozilla , the error appeared again, so I just went to RUN as I told before and everything seems ok, no errors about gklayout have appeared when I load this way. I'm just getting used to the mail prog and the AVG. The previous AVG didn't show a constant revolving email check icon and this was throwing me. I had to come out of email and then go back in and the mails would come through. It seems ok now since re-install.
Considering Ramona's reply, what do I do if I only have the above installed?
    I use winme, 256 mem.[me is ****, 98se was far better.]http://www.windowsbbs.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=197067#

    Thanks 2cv. :)

    2cv,

When you uninstalled Mozilla, did you also check the GRE folder, and remove anything that was left from the uninstall?

Anything is better of WinMe. If remove means uninstall, from the Add/Remove make sure that you check the GRE folder, as Ramona said. Only after uninstalling the program, and making sure that you don't have the GRE folder, you uninstall.
Location of GRE folder is in:C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE\ specific GRE for your program.
I was curious about free AVG because although it has an Outlook Express and Eudora plugin, it does not have it for Netscape or Mozilla.

Did as you say and reinstalled. The gre file is there again. I have Mozilla 1.7.3 and file is number 1.7.3 2004 091008. Probably a different number with it not being 1.7.2 version. I deleted the file and found the email would not work properly. Recovered the file from the bin and all is ok again with mail. May be I'll have to live with this. ME ***** and I think I'll get my mate to download XP for me soon. 2cv.

I don't think that you understand the process, and you are not doing things correctly. I will summarize.

1.Uninstall your program, using the Add/Remove
    2. Check if the GRE folder has been removed (it should have been, but delete it if it had not been removed)
    3 Reinstall the program

If you remove the GRE folder, without uninstalling nothing will work.
FYI, the gklayout.dll file is located in the Components subfolder of the GRE folder
    1.7.3 2004 091008.
The folder 1.7.2 2004 080415 is the GRE folder belonging to Netscape 7.2. It should not be deleted, if you have Netscape7.2 installed, as well.
    Are we making sense?
