My All-in-One HP died unexpectly, looking for a replacement. Buying printers is like looking inside a "Black Hole "... a somewhat intimidating proposition. Checking PC World / Cnet reviews seem to have a mixed "Love/Hate" relationship on many suggested printers. ANY suggestions would be MOST welcome. Here of some features I'm looking for ....
Amount willing to spend -- $100 to $300(+) --- Dependent on features.
Prefer convenience of Multi-function, faxing is not required.
    Stand-alone "copy" function.
Good scanning characteristics / acceptable speed.
Network -- Hmmm - Would love a Network ready, minimal network sharable.
Picture Print -- Yes, would love to print high quality pics, or at least very acceptable.
Ink Cost -- The dilemma, can the word economical be used in this phrase?
Laser/Inkjet -- Buy 2 printers(?).. laser for economical/quality text print AND cheap inkjet for color.

    I like this printer

I bought a lexmark x5150. This is a great all in one. Ink isnt expensive if you get the refill kit. Prints fast and has a great scanner. It also has stand alone copying.

Have narrowed my choice down to HP psc 2610 a network ready printer. Need advice per interface to network. It's networking capabilities are stated as "Network-ready with built-in 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface ". Would this allow a connection via an open port on my router?

    Thanks
    Dennis
