Hey all. My computer keeps shutting down without warning. I am running on Windows Xp Proffesional build 2600 version 2002. I dont think its a hardware issue because i am getting the following error when my PC boots back up:

the system has recovered from a serious error

the following files reported this error:
    C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini110104-06.dmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\Joe\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

    error signature:
    BCCode : d1 BCP1 : 00000009 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
    BCP4 : 00000009 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 0_0 Product : 256_1

Is it possible this has something to do with memory?
Completed a virus scan. Results turned up nothing
    please help! :(

caprtainm0e, It could be some driver that needs to be updated. Take a look in the Event Viewer to see if something is listed that matches your error times. Go to Start > Run > type eventvwr.msc (enter). Double click each of the three listings in turn and scroll for errors listed.

I've seen this error posted somewhere before. I'll see if I can find it for you.

You can also try the old fashioned way, use msconfig to shut down all you can do without in hopes of isolating any possible offender.

I think this is the thread I mentioned:

    Google Group Thread

See if any of that helps and good luck.

    thanx

Thank you for your help. Do you think i should try and install SP2? I am thinking that i could be my graphics card because this problem started a day after i installed the drivers for it. What do you think? Any other suggestions. Thanx for the help so far. :)

I am starting to notice that my pc only shuts off when I am downloading something via mirc or a bit torrent client. Is this a hard drive error? Let me know what you think and what i can do to fix this problem.
    Thanx-
    Joe

I very much doubt it's a hard drive problem. Have you looked in Event Viewer as surferdude2 suggested?

If you have not already done so .....

Right click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure and untick Automatically Restart. This will give show the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) with details of the failure which you can post here.

    - two possibilities here - roll back the driver to the original one - unless this is a new card OR uninstall the card in Device Manager and reboot. Good idea to remove all card software through Add/Remove Programs too. Reboot and let Windows find the card, then reinstall the software. If this doesn't solve your problem posy back and we'll look elsewhere.

Blue screen came up and it says:
    Driver_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
then it says typical stuff about how my pc is being shut off to prevent damage and it says dumping flies into memory dump.
I uninstalled my ATI card in add remove programs and also in the device manager. I will let you know if this works out. Just keepin ya posted. :D
