    I recently downloaded and installed Netscape 7.2 on a Windows ME Operating System. Now when I try to open same I get the following message;
    "The NETSCP.EXE file is linked to missing export NSPR4.Dll:pR_getlibraryfilepathname. I click ok on this and get; A device attached to the system is not working. I am using netscape 6.2 to send this and everything works fine with this Browser, except occasionally I get a message telling me I need to upgrade my browser to view certain web pages.

    Welcome to the Forum, Roy R!

    Roy,

    When you installed Netscape 7.2, did you install to a directory separate from your C:\Program File\Netscape\Netscape 6.2 ?

    Also, did you create a new Profile for Netscape 7.2, or are you trying to share the 6.2 Profile with Netscape 7.2?

    Hi Ramona;

    No, I did not install into a separate directory. I just went along with whatever the install program suggested. Right now the path to Netscape 7.2 is; C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp.exe and the path to Netscape 6.2 is; C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp6.exe.

    No, I did not create a new profile for netscape 7.2. I can't open profile manager
    or anything else connected with Netscape 7.2. As soon as I click Netscape 7.2 I
    get the message stated in my previous posting.

    Regards,
    Roy.

    Roy,
    Can you find the two separate programs on your hard drive? You, probably have a mess mixture of NS6.2 and NS7.1. You seem to have the same path for both program( not including the last item).
    If I remember correctly the only time I tried to install the way you did I had a single folder with both program.
    This would be the first item to attend to. Go to the Control Panel|Add/Remove and uninstall NS7.2. I am not sure what it will do to 6.2, if it can do. You will have to check the hard drive location. Usually the plugins folder and a couple of other items are left.
    You can go to the Profile Manager from Start|Programs|Netscape x and open the manager. But, you can reinstall 7.2, if the coast is clear.
    Don't worry about your personal information which is in the Profile, and is not removed.
    Let's get this cleared up. The profile will have to come next. As for the directions from Netscape...

    Netscape 7.2 still won't open

    Hi Westside;

    I uninstalled netscape 7.2. It did not affect the operation of netscape 6.2 which still works fine. I then reinstalled 7.2 to a new directory which I created and is now C:\browser\netscape. I didn't have to download again as I had saved the full installer when I downloaded previously. It went fine however it still will not run. When I double click the shortcut on the desktop or try to start it from start, programs, netscape 7.2 nothing happens. I now do not get the previous message referring to nspr.dll, just nothing.

    Regards,
    Roy.

    My intention was to uninstall 6.2 as well. You will not lose your personal data. If you want to keep 6.2, then create a new profile for 7.2. You should select the new profile when you start, if you create it before installing the program. I created a new profile for 7.2, almost one month before it came out, but did not use it. You can create a new profile with any program, just don't use it. The Profile Manager will come up when you try to start 7.2.
    We will take care of things after you get it going.
    Create a new profile now, and try again.

    Netscape 7.2 wouldn't run

    Hi Westside/Ramona;

    I finally got Netscape 7.2 running. I uninstalled it again. Before reinstalling I removed the file 1.7.2_2004080415 in C:\program files\common files\mozilla.org\Gre\1.7.2_2004080415. I found out about this by searching through some other forums, help, etc by entering "netscape 7.2 won't run" in the search column using netscape 6.2. I don't know if this was the problem or not as I see this file is back there again now, however everything is working fine
    except when I try to access my mail through a profile I had created they want a password which I enter and they say is incorrect, but if I go in under default in profile manager the mail works fine as well.

    Thanks a lot for your assistance and I think your forum is a good one.

    Regards,
    Roy.

    Roy,

    Thanks so much for posting back with your results. Heck, if we had known that you had previously installed 7.1 we could have saved you some time! Most importantly, you're up and running! :D
