Does anyone know how to get rid of this worm? I ran AVG and it found and took care of 248 instances but the one in Win32WINGO will not delete. What do I do?

You should be able to delete the file if you boot to Safe Mode.

However, I would suggest that you post in the Security / Virus / Spyware Forum for faster and better advice since this forum is for Windows XP operating system queries mostly. Perhaps one of the moderators will move you there.

edit note: moving it from XP to security now surferdude2. Newt

    Best regards.

If you're using XP try turning off system restore. This will delete all restore points. It's possible though that the virus is in the restore files. Your antivirus program won't have access to it so it won't be able to remove it. Deleting the restore points will do it if it's in them. Don't forget to turn it back on.

Turn it off, right click on my computer>properties>system restore.

surferdude2! Thanks! Unfortunately, I re-installed my operating system, after everything failed. I was using AVG, but for some reason, the worm turned and messed with me good. And, it didn't even give me the courtesy of a "reach around." :D I am now in the process of looking for drivers and programs I used to have and no longer do. Woe is me! :D
If you would, please check back every so often. I have been known to fry my hard drive several times (6) over the years.

Dang namvet3 - you only gave us a couple hours after your original post before you slicked your system. We do good work but usually not instant.

Believe me, Newt! Re-installing was the last thing I wanted to do. I had no choice. I couldn't even get into it, no matter what I tried. I'm now spending a lot of time re-installing a lot of my lost files and programs. :(

Sorry you had to do the reinstall.

Usually someone on here can figure out how to get into most any system regardless of how badly it is acting up and can walk you through a fix.

Maybe 1 of 50 or even fewer major virus/spwware problems (haven't done a count) will eventually get to the point where the user thinks it faster to reinstall and opt for that route.
