Does anyone who uses Weatherbug have a problem with it not updating the temp automatically? I have its Live Update feature enabled and am certain I'm connected to the Net, but the only time my Weatherbug icon shows a change in temp is if I click on it. I thought it was supposed to change by itself.

I too have Weatherbug installed on my system but to tell you the truth I had never paid that much attention as to whether or not the temp displayed in the System Tray was updating itself or not until I read your message.

I found that mine behaves in the same fashion as yours. The displayed temp does not change until you open the program window and then within a second or two it updates itself. I've looked through the help files on Weatherbugs website but didn't find anything that discussed this issue. One would think that the purpose of displaying the temp in the System Tray would be to display the current temp, go figure. But I suppose we can't ask for two much from free software.

Sigh, that's what I thought. Well it's of no use to me then if it doesn't change automatically, so I guess I'll uninstall it. Thx for the 411.

    Hey all...
If your looking for a weather program, let me recommend WetSock. I've tried 3 or 4 different ones (including WeatherBug) and I've used this one for over a year now. It's shareware ($12) there is an icon that sits in the system tray, if you move your mouse over it you see the current temp. You can set how often you want it to update. Weather information is gathered from the National Weather service, you can select multiple cities, countries etc. Also will alert you to severe weather watchs and warnings. Pretty slick little program. I'm on the road alot, so it's nice to know what your heading into before you go out the door. (just a satisfied customer, no connection to this program)

Thought you might want to also take a look at the following program that I found at ZDNet. I've checked the publishers site but was unable to determine if this program automatically updates while in the System Tray or like Weather Bug, waits for you to click on it to obtain the update.

No more Weather Bug for me

I don't think Weather Bug will do anything until you are actually 'online'. At least not if you are using a dial-up modem. I don't know about all this "high speed" stuff.

I started using Weather Bug about two years ago and I really enjoyed it - Until they started the improvement process.

It just became too intrusive for my liking. It would dial up on its own all the time at all hours, I couldn't get online without having to deal with WxBug first and I think with version 2.6-something you had to have a 'sponsor' who would fill up your inbox with all those really great deals you simply can't live without.

Does it still do all this stuff? If it does 'No Thanks'. If it doesn't, I might try it again. WxBug really is a great little program. I just got tired of having to deal with all the things I couldn't control to be able to use it a couple of times a month. :(

My Weatherbug was online, but would only update when I clicked the icon, which is stupid. I believe you can now set it to not dial at all hours of the night. I wouldn't bother with it though cause it doesn't update on its own, so what's the point?

shadowhawk - Seems to be the way the Bug is set up. KInda like the wind direction. It is updated constantly in the Wxbug app. as is the temp. . Just takes one click.

indutch - I saw all you refer to and irritated me too. Has been too long since install, but it doesn't bother me at all at this point. No dialups, no "partners" nor sponsors. Just takes an extra step, I think.(and be sure to uncheck all unwanteds.
