For a contact in OE address book, you type in an email address. In addressing the email the contact's "name" is inserted in the to: cc: etc. box. Can I change this default to show the email address? I also use Miscrosoft Office (MO) which links to the OE address book. When I enter a contact in MO that is already in the OE address book, it automatically changes the contact's email address to the person's name. Thus, if I print a directory or list I get a person's name for the email address - how can I get it to show the email address in both OE and MO? Thank you kindly. dan (I run Windows ME, use OE 6.0, and MO 2000)

dangog--Put the email address (or perhaps only the first part of it) into the First Name line in New Contact. Then, of course put the full email address into the email address line, Add, OK.

Your suggestion does not solve my specific problem in that I want to print a list of all contacts showing their full name (alpha order by last name), their phone numbers, email addresses, etc. I can easily format this, but, of course, I get their name in the place where an email address should be. Thank you kindly, though, for the suggestion. dan

I'm not sure I understand fully what you're trying to do here. Do you want to print the entire contents of your address book with all the information about each one included? If so, open your address book, click on the "name" column to sort them by name (if they aren't already). Then click on the first name in the list so that it's highlighted. Then hold down the shift key and click on the last name in the list. This will highlight all entries in the list. Now click the print button in the toolbar. When the printer applet opens, make sure that "memo" is ticked in the box where it says "print style ". This will print all the information about each contact. If you only want to print a few of contacts instead of all, click on each of the ones you want while holding down the ctrl key to select the ones you want.

No - my wish is to print the contacts showing all info including the email address - the persons name shows (displays) both in IE and in the print version. It's useless to me to have a hard copy and no email addresses. I've now tried many more things, but nothing works. I did find in another forum that if my "about" in the drop down menu of Help shows in the second line "internet mail" there is no what to avoid my problem. It is inherrent in wonderful Microsoft deciding what one wants. Thanks to everyone for commenting and your suggestions. dan

Export the address book as a CSV file and then import it into any spreadsheet app and print a formatted table.

dangog--Your first post mentioned nothing about wanting to print your Address Book. When I open my Address Book and click File I get a Print option. Never tried it.

My first post does mention printing near the end. First I outlined the issues, then the problem. Thanks again one and all for reading and commenting. I finally got around all of this by disassociating IE from Microsoft Outlook. Now the email address remains when typed in; it no longer "switches" to the person's name in the email box. thanks, dan
