Is it possible to change the name under "Registered to:" on Win2k? Or do I need to reinstall the software? I'm giving a laptop to a girlfriend and it lists my ex-wife as being registered. I would really like to change it for obvious reasons...
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Hammer

Try searching your registry for your ex-wife's name and changing all the values where her name appears.

For my Windows XP, I found the Windows registered name at:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

That changed the Windows registered name, but I THINK there are more registry entries that are used when auto-completing user information for application installations and such.

    Thanks Keith.
Looks like that did the trick. I'll play around with it for a bit to see if it has caused any problems.
