WP 8 tab function and AOL

If I am working in Word Perfect 8 and AOL is also active, when I push the tab button I am taken to the AOL screen. I want the tab to function simply as a tab in my word processing. Any ideas how to correct this?

 

Could be a stuck Alt key, or maybe something wrong with the keyboard. It may also correct itself by restarting the system.

 

Whenever I come across this problem (which is more often than you would think) just tapping the ALT key a few times clears it up. More often than not the physical key isn't stuck, rather Windows just thinks it's stuck.

 

Apparently the computer did think that the Alt key was stuck, as suggested. Problem solved. Thanks to you both.
