I recently decided to move my wife's OS up from ME to XP Pro. I wanted to move the files off the drive with ME onto a new drive I installed XP. When I went to explorer to move files, there was no drive letter for the ME drive. The drive was acknowledged in the bios, but not in explorer.

I then shifted the drive to another computer with Win 2K, and had the same situation.

Anyone know why the ME drive can't be seen by XP or 2K?

    Gary

    Hello Gary,

    Lets talk about your computer.

    A couple of questions:

Did you get a dual boot menu? If not, when you installed XP, the ME drive was unhooked in some fashion and XP didn't see it. Have you looked in the Device Manager of XP? Or you re-jiggered the drives and the Me drive is not hooked up right.

I think what you ought to do is explain how the drives are hooked up. Both are probably partition C's for one thing unless you changed that.

    Regards - Charles
