when my computer is booting up, right before the screen that says "windows is starting up/loading personal settings ", i hear a beep from my computer's internal speaker and then it takes extra long during the "windows is starting up/loading personal settings" screen-this didn't happen until after i installed sp2

Go to the homepage of the motherboard manufacturer and check for a BIOS update. If one is recommended in reference to SP2, it will probably fix the issue.

It is also possible that the Graphics Card needs new drivers to work well with SP2. Check their homepage too.
