Cannot start Windows due to a corrupt or missing "notskrnl" file. The partition is NTFS... I have found some DOS - NTFS readers, but they do not let you copy a new "notskrnl" to the NTFS partition, only to a FAT partition. :( Any ideas as to how I can replace this file? For some unknown reason I cannot boot from my CD drive, just my A:\ drive. Any suggestions will be appreciated. :) Anthony

Hi Anthony, and welcome to the board. :)
As this error has been covered many times before. Do a search in the BBS for ntoskrnl. There are a LOT of suggestions for fixes. If they don't help, post back.
A google search will give you a lot of suggestions and possibles as well.

I guess you have changed the boot order in BIOS to boot from your CD first, and you hit the space bar when told to hit any key?

Thanks Paul! I'll do a search on the BBS and see what has been suggested in the past. Yes I have checked the boot order, but sure about hitting the space bar.
