For some odd reason, whenever I open a new window in Win XP home and move my mouse, the focus goes to whichever window is under the mouse! This is a change from normal behavior and is quite inconvenient. Is there a registry setting that will allow me to change settings so that the mouse does not cause the window focus to change? I have tried Registry Mechanic and TweakUI without results. Any help would be very much appreciated! (It may be that this was caused by a setting in Registry Mechanic but that setting has been reset without positve results). This also happens in Outlook.

    Thank you

you have turned on a feature called Xmouse, that makes the cursor behave as is does under Xwindows.

    Use tweakui to disable it.

Sometimes it's Xmouse is available in the mouse software. Have a look in the Control Panel, and if you see it, disable it. In the TweakUI programs, it's listed under "focus ".

    Mouse focus

    Joe and Johanna,
Thank you! I reset the Xmouse setting in TweakUI per your suggestions and it appears that this problem has now been solved. What a relief. I appreciate your help so much. May your week be free of adversity.

    Gratefully,

    Balthior
