I installed the Audigy 2 Platinum ZS today and installed the drivers. All seemed to go well, until I plugged my 2.1 speakers into the speaker jack of the card (third one away from the firewire port). I played back a sound to test it and heard nothing at all. When I put on my head phones, which are connected to the Platinum drive, I heard sounds.

I switched the speakers and head phones around and now hear sound through the speakers when they're connected to the Platinum drive.

I verified that my connections were correct, the speakers were receiving power and were not muted. If I'm able to hear sound through the head phone jack on the Platinum drive, but not the speaker jack on the card, does that mean the card's defective? Or could there be something simple I'm overlooking?

Does your card have the breakout box that occupies a drive slot on the front of the case? If so, try disconnecting it and plugging your speakers into the correct jack (should be a green jack, if its color coded) If it works, then your card is, for some reason, probably not getting enough power.

I have 430 Watts. Shouldn't that be enough? If that's the case, I'll just use the Platinum drive's connector.

 Did you find your problem? If not; Open your Creative Sound Mixer Control and click on the red + sign above the volume slider and make sure that "Digital Output Only" isn't selected. If it is you will have no sound from the analog jack you are using. Do you leave your headphones plugged in? If you do, there is an option to "mute speakers when headphones are plugged in ". Open Media Source Go (go to start, programs, Creative, Media Source Go.) Click on go. Click on the Product Settings button, click on Device
    Controls.

You will have an option to mute speakers when using headphones .

Or, if you don't have Media Source Go installed, go to C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy2\AudioHQ and click Device Controls; then the Headphones tab.

Failing all that, did you try just plugging your headphones into the 3rd over from the firewire jack and listening for sound (nothing plugged into the front Platinum Drive). If there is no sound then I would say defective card... contact Creative Support (They are great!).

    Hope this helped... :D

That's not the problem. None of the jacks on the card work, including the firewire jack. All the jacks on Audigy drive work. I went into Media Source, but the only settings were for the remote control, nothing about the speakers.

I no longer have the AudioHQ because I installed only the system drivers and nothing else. The install doesn't work properly if I try to do a full install.

I just tried the speakers plugged into the card with the head phones unplugged from the drive. No change.

Sorry I couldn't help... I think it may be time to call Creative Support. They have always been helpful for me...

    Something not right there.

My bet is drivers. You may have to remove all trace of the drivers of your old soundcard. Look in Add/remove programs, check in Device Mangler. Could try removing anything related to audio in Safe Mode. Maybe even install the driver program for your old soundcard, then uninstall it.

I did uninstall the old card's drivers before installing the new one.

I disabled onboard audio long ago.
