I removed MS Java from my XP Pro sp2 Laptop and am trying to install JRE 1.4.2_06. I used Arie's method of removal.

I have downloaded the EXE from Sun (3 times) and tried to install it each time with the same results.

    "Error 1327.Invalid Drive: H:/ "

I do not have an H drive. The error explained from Sun Micro is something to do with the windows installer.

My laptop is configured with drives C,D,E,F on the HDD and Z is my Cd drive. Also have "Mobile Device" in the tree for plugging in one of those key chain drives. It is not plugged in at this time.

    Anyone experience similar problems?

Thank you very much for the links. They helped in the sense that it made me think more.

They were all talking about a network drive which I don't have but I did remember that I had changed my CD drive letter to Z: and the plug in drives would become G: and H:.

I didn't have the plug in drives as this is my sister's Laptop so I changed the CD drive letter back to H: and the installation went as advertised.

    Everything is OK now.
